To get access to the topic and to develop a first impression of what the system could look like, we started with a simple brainstorming session, where each team member was asked to sketch different ideas of the technological hardware as well as software setting. Furthermore we created several moodboards to get a feeling for what a blended library could look like. After we sorted our ideas, we did a second brainstorming about the information dimensions given in the project.
These were the results we came up with:
Our team came up with four moodboards what the library could mean to the visitors and how this message could be transported in impressions and colors.
Library as Medium for Inspiration | Library as Information Pool |

Library as (Art-)Gallery | Library as Play Ground |

Furthermore we thought about the library in Nature and how this could be realized using visualizations lend from nature and warm, friendly colors.
We collected some general ideas regarding the system and every possible screen or application. By doing that we created hand-drawn sketches.
The first impression about the system is very important. Therefore we thought about possible start screens.
We also thought about how to explore the libraries content within a information system. The following sketches are showing a interaction with help of a sequential storyboard.
Libraries are big book collection. To search a book by author or title is very common. Therefore our system has to cover this task.
To get to the desired book is often not easy and can be done with the help of technical solutions instead of library employees.
Matching to the theme nature inspired library we thought about first natural forms (and other solutions) in interactive visualizations.
Beside the screen-side, we also thought about what technology to use within the library. We came up with plenty of ideas, ranging from mobile devices, like smartphones and tablets, to big location-based tracking systems.
The second brainstorm we did was about the different dimensions and contents of information related with the public library project. As the task was to integrate new social media as well as web-based information, we collected a lot of ideas to what these information could be.
We extracted the following possible dimensions of information:
Location could have be local or global, whereas we collected some sample events/trends for each.
