We choose to present selected ideas like the interactive table and the augmented books in a stop motion video. The video tells the story of Anne and her library visit with her family again.
This is family Wagner. Anne, her husband Frank and their 4 years old daughter Emily.
During her job in the office, Anne works with the computer very often and she also owns a personal computer at home. Her daughter Emily loves fairy tales. In spite of that she does not know how to read, she studies all kind of books which she can find.
Anne and Emily visit the local library at least once per week. At some weekends, the whole family goes to the library. Let us see how a typical visit looks like.
The first thing that Anne does when she enters the library is checking the big screens on the wall.
One screen is showing the currently trending twitter tags. Another one lists the today’s top news from popular websites. And the third screen provides information about the best selling books in the internet.
They also name related books which are available in the library. But today, Anne is looking for some books for Emily.
Anne realizes the blue projected arrows on the floor.
They are labeled with current topics and indicate at which shelve related items are located.
But Anne still has not found suitable topics for her daughter.
Then Anne recognizes the highlighted interactive table which has already affected Emily’s attention right from the beginning. Anne wants to have a deeper look into it. The table now shows the start screen with the logo of the library on the browsing application for the events of the week.
The events are categorized by source like cinema, local events like city festivals or concerts, news and a twitter-stream filtered by settings made by the library staff.
Anne recently saw posters of a currently shown 3D-remake of Peter Pan.
She wants to get more information and therefore Anne browses through the actual movies in the cinema in the fantasy section.
On rank 3 she finds Peter Pan and selects it.
Now a lot of information about Peter Pan is shown, inclusively the originally play, the times the movie runs, the trailer and some related works.
Seeing the information about the play “Peter Pan; The Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up” by J.M. Barrie she gets really surprised and selects the book.
With the help of the interactive table, Anne found an interesting book about Peter Pan. The projected arrow on the floor now shows her the direction to the book she selected.
As soon as Anne is holding the selected book in front of her, additional information are projected to the book pages.
These information include online user reviews and related Youtube videos, such as cinema trailers.
Anne is very satisfied with her selection and is looking forward to read the story to Emily.
