Further Course Information

Seminar Overview

The seminar is divided into two work phases

Phase 1: Sketching Techniques

  • Each student will be assigned to a certain topic
  • Each student has an adivisor (phd student of the hci group) and should consult him regularly
  • During the first phase you will focus on sketching techniques
  • You will generate a wiki page which gives a detailed description of the assigned sketching techniques
  • The wiki page content should cover
    • General information about the sketching technique (Buxton books)
    • Detailed information derived from your independent research
    • External and self-made examples of the sketching techniques
    • Tutorials and code of practice
  • This page serves as an equivalent of a seminar thesis; it has to be well constructed and should present the topic in detail; you are allowed to create subpages for reasons of clarity and readability;
  • Based on the content of your wiki page you will have to give a presentation
  • Presentation content
  • You should introduce the audience to the topic; present the different sketching techniques; show different sketching examples; etc.; this presentation should last 30minutes + 10minutes discussion

Phase 2: Sketching Projects

  • In the middle of the seminar each student will work in a team on a practical sketching project
  • You will have to give an interim and a final presentation of your practical sketching project
  • You should document every sketching step on the Project team wiki page (documentation of your work and meetings; photos of your sketching workflow; collection of needed material; etc.)

Group Work Guidelines

  • Each group has an adivisor (phd student of the hci group) and should consult him regularly
  • It is expected that each group meet on a weekly basis
